Album of M.M. Amadeus' (Revd Mother General) Visitation to USA
1928 - 1929
This album is a record of Mother Mary Amadeus Atchison's - the SHCJ's Superior General - long tour of the American Province. This important visit both involved gathering information about the Society's foundress and learning about the SHCJ American Province's development in the 1920s, meeting novices at the Sharon novitiate.
New Sharon Album
December 1948
New Sharon was aquired in 1948 and named after the SHCJ's second American Foundation which had been purchased by Father Carter to give the sisters better accommodation and to allow them space to develop a novitiate. As the white veils and young faces of the 1948 generation of American SHCJ novices show, New Sharon became the American Province's new novitiate. This album displays the New Sharon Chapel and a Mass and Recpetion that are likely to have been organised to celebrate the blessing of the Chapel. The last picture shows New Sharon Chapel skillfully recreated in cake form!
