Loose photographs of the Parish schools and Winckley Square Convent School

In this series of loose photographs, we can see the development of SHCJ education in Preston through time. Several early photographs feature the girls who were trained in the pupil teacher system (the only photographs in the Archives where they are identified this way). Later photographs depict classes from the 1920s onwards, school plays and concerts as well as a school outing in the beautiful surroundings of Avenham Park. Finally a photograph from circa 1995 shows Holy Child pupils taking part in the famous Preston Guild (an important regular Preston event), holding a banner for Cornelia Connelly.
