Welcome to the Society of the Holy Child Jesus European Province Archives website. Here you can access digital images of the unique papers, photographs and objects kept within our Archives and learn the fascinating story of Cornelia Connelly and the sisters of the Society she founded, their work in education and other ministries.
Founded by Cornelia in 1846, the SHCJ’s collections date from the nineteenth, twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Each gives a rare insight into the communities they worked with, including East Sussex and Blackpool in England, Neuilly and Créteil near Paris, Dublin and Sallynoggin in Ireland, Calabar and Ajegunle, Lagos in Nigeria and many other places.
